Faculty and Students:

Hainan Medical University has a total of 11,850 faculty, staff, and medical personnel, including 1,083 full-time teachers, of whom 867 are located on the main campus. Currently, there are 15,112 full-time students, including 11,866 undergraduates and 2,384 graduate students.

Affiliated Hospitals:

Hainan Medical University has three directly affiliated and ten non-affiliated hospitals. One of the largest tertiary-level Class A directly affiliated comprehensive hospitals in Hainan Province, the Affiliated Hainan Hospital, the First Affiliated Hospital, and the Second Affiliated Hospital.

Clinical Medicine (MBBS) Program and Cost 2026:

Hainan Medical University has offered a Clinical Medicine MBBS program for international students since 2006. The Clinical Medicine program comprises a six-year degree curriculum, consisting of five years of clinical study followed by a sixth year of internship.

The Annual Cost of a Clinical Medicine program at Hainan Medical University is 23,300 RMB ($3300), including tuition and accommodation fees (three sharing a room). This cost does not include the food and traveling expenses (airfares). The average food cost is 1000-1200 RMB/month ($150).

Admission Requirements:

International students pursuing admission to the Clinical Medicine (MBBS) program at Hainan Medical University must adhere to the specified entrance requirements:

• Applicants must have a valid passport and be non-Chinese citizens.
• Applicant must have a minimum of 60% Marks/Score in Senior High School/HSSC/WAEC or GCE A-Levels.
• Students must be healthy mentally and physically.
• Students must be between the ages of 18 and 30 for the bachelor’s degree program.
• All the documents should be in English or Chinese.
• Students from non-English countries will provide an English proficiency letter or IELTS/TOEFL.

HSK Exam Policy: First Semester (Preparatory) will be Chinese Language, which will be conducted Online, and after passing HSK-3, students will be promoted to the Clinical Medicine (MBBS) Degree program of 6 years, including the last year of internship. It is Mandatory to pass HSK-4 in the first year to continue the Medical study. HSK-5 is required to pass before graduation.
